Airsoft Gun Not Firing - Basic Troubleshooting
Is your electric airsoft gun not shooting or having motor connection issues? While this will not fix all electrical issues among airsoft guns, this however is one of the most common issues that we see. Our experienced technicians have made a detailed step by step list on how to fix it. This is an easy to intermediate job as it requires opening the motor baseplate of your airsoft gun.
Here are the steps on how to troubleshoot a not shooting airsoft gun.
Step 1. Make sure battery is fully charged
Step 2. Check if the battery is properly connected to your AEG. Especially when using Tamiya connector, the contacts can sometimes get worn out and does not go all the way in even is the plastic Tamiya housing clicks in. You can use the wire from both sides to push the connectors in.
Step 3. If it still does not shoot, check the fuse. please note that airsoft guns use different kinds of fuse and fuse holder. Open the fuse holder to check the fuse and install new fuse if necessary.
Step 4. If it the fuse is not the issue, check motor connection.
Step 4.1. Using a screwdriver or hex tool (depending on what your airsoft gun uses) open the motor baseplate by unscrewing both screws.
Step 4.2. Remove the baseplate and you will see the motor spacer. (some airsoft guns do not need or does not come with motor spacer) If your gun comes with one, make sure not to lose it as it is important for use to adjust the motor height.
Step 4.3. You will then see 2 wires. Red and Black. Inspect and see if the wires are properly connected to the motor. If it is not connected, carefully connect them using your hands or needle nose pliers. Red goes to red or positive, black goes to black negative. Sometimes the motor connectors are loose and keep disconnecting from the motor. Get a pair of needle nose pliers and gently clamp down the loose connector for a tighter fit.
Step 4.4. Place the spacer on top of the motor and carefully re-install the base plate and gently tighten the screws.
Step 5. Test the airsoft gun. At this point if your airsoft gun still does not shoot, there might be a more technical issue involved and we recommend bringing it to a qualified airsoft technician.
