Airsoft Gun Handling and Care
Now you have an airsoft gun and you are ready to play airsoft. Like a car, motorcycle, or anything else, your airsoft gun will experience some wear and tear. But don't worry, with proper maintenance your airsoft gun will last without significant problems.
Airsoft Gun Handling and Care:
- Always treat your airsoft gun like it was a real firearm.
- Always use common sense. Finger off the trigger and point it at a safe direction at all times. Read article Airsoft Safety Fundamentals.
- Do not drop your airsoft gun.
- Your airsoft gun is not a real gun. It will not survive a drop, hard surface or not. Even real soldiers don't drop their guns. Treat it with respect and it will last you years of awesome play time.
- Do not drag your airsoft gun across the field.
- Doing so will cause dirt sand and microscopic particles to enter your barrel and internals.
- Lube your airsoft gun.
- Proper lubrication is important to keep your airsoft gun in top shape. You can purchase a silicone spray and use your un-jamming rod to swab the internal barrel with cleaning cloth soaked with silicone lube. When doing this, make sure to turn the hop up all the way down. Do not over lube it though as too much lube can attract dust. Do this every 5000 rounds, that's roughly 1-2 bags of BBs.
- Release the spring tension.
- After a game of full auto, fire 2-3 round in semi auto. This will seat the piston to its normal position thus releasing the spring tension. I usually do this when clearing my AEG. This will also help maintain your airsoft gun's FPS for a longer time.
- Use good quality BBs.
- Use .20g BBs or heavier. Anything lighter than a .20g won't cut it. Read article Choosing the Best Airsoft BBs.
- Do not recycle BBs.
- We know you want to save the world and recycle. But using BBs that has been dropped on the ground, fired or deformed may cause serious problems with your airsoft gun. So do not reuse BBs and save the world by putting trash in trash containers and using biodegradable BBs.
- Do not hose.
- Hosing means firing full automatic in long periods. 8 seconds or more will cause your motor to burn and will cause severe stress to your gearbox. Do 3-5 second bursts instead. This saves battery, saves BBs, save the world.
- Disconnect Battery when not in use.
- Make it a habit of disconnecting the battery after every game. Leaving the battery connected may cause a short or some serious problems.
- Do not over charge your battery
- Never over charge your battery as it may cause it to hold lesser charge, render it unusable, or sometimes cause fire.
